Full Moon Reflections and Personal Promises
As the Moon in Pisces is moving her way past direct opposition to the sun, we may feel ourselves settling into a sense of newness. A heightened understanding of the phase of life we’re in is likely, especially if it’s a transitional phase.
This summer there were eclipses and every single outer planet spent some time in retrograde. Many of us were frustrated with our process, it felt slow, muddy, stuck. So much from our past came up.
But now we’re entering a new phase.
Six months ago, when the full moon was in Virgo, a seed was planted that’s coming to fruition right now (keeping dated journals can be so helpful when you love looking to astrology for guidance).
The moon sign and any aspects it makes to other planets in you birth chart paint a picture of an emotional landscape. In your birth chart, Stephen Arroyo describes it simply as “subconscious reactions and conditioned responses based on your predispositions”.
In our culture we tend to think of certain people as more emotional than others. Women tend to be more emotional than men, sensitive types are more emotional than driven types, but this really isn’t true. We are all emotional creatures. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking in terms such as, “All Aries moon people have such a temper!” or “All Pisces moon people cry over everything.” While these may be the reactions we see, it’s purely based on the history and care the received as children, how the mother or other major caregiver cared for themselves, and responded to the needs of the child. We are ALL emotional, we just express it in our own way.
Yesterday’s full moon may have felt really great or really messy to you depending on where it fell in you birth chart and what, if any aspects it made to the planets in your birth chart. This full moon energy was differently or all of us. Sometimes, it’s so helpful to simply talk about what we experience and how we feel during a full moon, so we can make sense of it all and what the astrology is communicating to us through the wisdom of our emotions and our bodies. Please note, I am a Lunar Gemini, so talking about emotions is my subconsciously reactive and conditioned response based on my predispositions - hah! So take this suggestion lightly. :)
To get a little bit personal, and to show a little bit of my Gemini moon, this full moon showed me how far I have veered away from what I know to be true, due to fear: fear of being left out, making a mistake, of being wrong. I’ve tried to make my own world and life for myself but I let cultural norms affect my judgement. Now, I am exhausted. Trusting yourself over the many opinions of others, especially the popular opinion, is sometimes a hard lesson to learn.
This full moon I promised myself I would recommit myself to myself. I embrace where I am, despite the regret I often feel. I promise myself that I will never again make a decision due to pressure or panic, that I will give myself permission to allow my inner compass to guide me (this requires time, space, and plenty of water - for me!) before I make any decisions.
I promise myself I won’t be so hard on myself, like I have often been in the past. Almost habitually.
I promise that I will lean into my gifts, that I will TRUST those gifts, trust what feels right to me - in my heart, my mind, my bones, and stop buying into the idea that life and work needs to be hard and painful. That my process needs to be long and painstaking.
The thing I know for sure about myself is that I tend to feel a very strong lean towards alternatives to the normal way of doing things. When I am given two options, I feel best when I seek a third, and that’s usually what works, and I believe it’s because it gets me OUT of that limitation mentality that drags me into a slump, or gives me that dreaded dark expression of Pisces - lost at sea with relief in sight.
I promise to move towards what feels electric, alive, safe, and nourishing to me, and let everything else go up in flames.
